Yingvirus is a genus of negative-strand RNA viruses which infect invertebrates.{{Cite journal|last1=Wu|first1=Haoming|last2=Pang|first2=Rui|last3=Cheng|first3=Tong|last4=Xue|first4=Liang|last5=Zeng|first5=Haiyan|last6=Lei|first6=Tao|last7=Chen|first7=Moutong|last8=Wu|first8=Shi|last9=Ding|first9=Yu|last10=Zhang|first10=Jumei|last11=Shi|first11=Mang|date=2020-08-25|title=Abundant and Diverse RNA Viruses in Insects Revealed by RNA-Seq Analysis: Ecological and Evolutionary Implications|journal=mSystems|language=en|volume=5|issue=4|doi=10.1128/mSystems.00039-20|issn=2379-5077|pmid=32636338|pmc=7343303|doi-access=free}} Member viruses have bisegmented genomes. It is the only genus in the family Qinviridae, which is the only family in Muvirales, which is the only order in Chunqiuviricetes. There are eight species in the genus.{{cite web|url= https://ictv.global/taxonomy/taxondetails?taxnode_id=20186040 |title=ICTV Taxonomy history: Mivirus |website=International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) |access-date=13 January 2019 |language=en }}

Etymology

The name Yingvirus derives from {{lang|zh|嬴}} ({{transliteration|zh|yíng}}), the ancestral name of Duke Mù of Qín during the Spring and Autumn period, along with -virus the suffix for a virus genus.{{cite web |last1=Wolf |first1=Yuri |last2=Krupovic |first2=Mart |last3=Zhang |first3=Yong Zhen |author-link3=Zhang Yongzhen |last4=Maes |first4=Piet |last5=Dolja |first5=Valerian |last6=Koonin |first6=Eugene V. |last7=Kuhn |first7=Jens H. |title=Megataxonomy of negative-sense RNA viruses |url=https://talk.ictvonline.org/cfs-file/__key/telligent-evolution-components-attachments/13-237-00-00-00-00-76-13/2017.006M.A.v1.Negarnaviricota.docx |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190113122434/https://talk.ictvonline.org/cfs-file/__key/telligent-evolution-components-attachments/13-237-00-00-00-00-76-13/2017.006M.A.v1.Negarnaviricota.docx |url-status=dead |archive-date=January 13, 2019 |website=International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) |access-date=12 January 2019 |language=en |format=docx}} Qinviridae gets its name from {{lang|zh|秦}} ({{transliteration|zh|Qín}}), meaning Qín State, added to -viridae the suffix for a virus family. Muvirales is from {{lang|zh|穆}} ({{transliteration|zh|Mù}}), again for Duke Mù of Qín, along with -virales the suffix for a virus order. Chunqiuviricetes is from {{lang|zh|春秋时代}} ({{transliteration|zh|Chūnqiū Shídài}}), or Spring and Autumn period, attached to -viricetes the suffix for a virus class.

Genome

Yingviruses have linear, negative-sense, bisegmented RNA genomes. Genome lengths for four member species are:{{Cite web|url=https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genomes/GenomesGroup.cgi?taxid=2507497|title=Complete genomes: Yingvirus|website=www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov|access-date=17 July 2019}}
