It is the successor of the Soviet era {{lang|kum-Latn|Lenin yolu}} ({{langx|kum|label=none|Ленин ёлу|lit=Lenin's Path}}), which was an organ of the Dagestan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
