In March 2014, their schedules allowed them to get together and compose original songs.{{cite web|url=https://time.com/3486776/you-and-me-alecia-moore-pink-dallas-green/ |title='It Was Meant to Happen': Alecia Moore and Dallas Green Team Up for You+Me |publisher=Time magazine |date=October 13, 2014 |access-date=October 13, 2014 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141014022453/https://time.com/3486776/you-and-me-alecia-moore-pink-dallas-green/ |archive-date=October 14, 2014 |url-status=live }} They had written musical nuggets in advance, and their debut album Rose Ave. took shape within a week. The artists attributed their quick progress to the freedom from usual production pressures and the joy of making music together.{{cite news|url=http://bigstory.ap.org/article/e8ca00fc91da452299354bd9eb40445e/not-pink-alecia-moores-new-music-youme|title=Not Pink: Alecia Moore's new music is with You+Me |agency=Associated Press|date=October 14, 2014|access-date=November 6, 2014|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141107034242/http://bigstory.ap.org/article/e8ca00fc91da452299354bd9eb40445e/not-pink-alecia-moores-new-music-youme|archive-date=November 7, 2014|url-status=live}} The name of the duo, You+Me, is based on the two friends wanting to sing together.
Green recalls how the collaboration came about: "Alecia and I had talked about (working together) for a long time — not about making a record, but the idea of singing together and trying to write a song. (...) When we had the time to do it, that really lit a fire of creativity because it was something different. The idea of collaborating with a female voice and a different writer was what I needed, I guess, to create a bunch of new songs."{{Cite news|url=http://www.680news.com/2016/06/07/qa-city-and-colours-dallas-green-on-the-hips-influence-working-with-pink/|title=Q&A: City and Colour's Dallas Green on the Hip's influence, working with Pink|last=Friend|first=David|date=June 7, 2016|work=680 News|via=The Canadian Press|access-date=June 11, 2016|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160608124857/http://www.680news.com/2016/06/07/qa-city-and-colours-dallas-green-on-the-hips-influence-working-with-pink/|archive-date=June 8, 2016|url-status=live}}

The duo's debut album Rose Ave. was released on October 14, 2014. The work was initiated and produced by Moore and Green. They had considered releasing the music independently; however, in order to reach a large audience and for legal concerns the album was released through Moore's label RCA Records.{{cite web|url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/28/pink-alecia-moore-country-duo-you-and-me|title=Pink on You+Me: why I've ditched the acrobatics and leotards to go country|work=The Guardian|date=October 28, 2014|access-date=November 1, 2014|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141031103942/http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/28/pink-alecia-moore-country-duo-you-and-me|archive-date=October 31, 2014|url-status=live}}{{cite web|url=http://www.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2014/10/14/you-me-the-trouble-with-side-projects|title=Pink, You + Me, and the Trouble with Side Projects|publisher=laweekly.com|date=October 14, 2014|access-date=November 1, 2014|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141016004845/http://www.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2014/10/14/you-me-the-trouble-with-side-projects|archive-date=October 16, 2014|url-status=dead|df=mdy-all}} The album charted at number one in Canada and at number four in the United States, the home countries of the artists.{{cite web|url=http://www.billboard.com/charts/2014-11-01/canadian-albums|title=Canadian Albums – November 1, 2014|publisher=Billboard Magazine|access-date=November 1, 2014|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141031011730/http://www.billboard.com/charts/2014-11-01/canadian-albums|archive-date=October 31, 2014|url-status=live}}{{cite web|url=http://www.billboard.com/charts/2014-11-01/billboard-200|title=Billboard 200 – November 1, 2014|publisher=Billboard Magazine|access-date=November 1, 2014|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141027051109/http://www.billboard.com/charts/2014-11-01/billboard-200|archive-date=October 27, 2014|url-status=live}}
