Club career
Zoltan Farmati, nicknamed Bimbo was born on 9 July 1924 in Șimleu Silvaniei, Romania, being the eldest of eight brothers and he started to play football in 1942 at CA Cluj in the Hungarian league, a competition in which he made two appearances. In 1946 the club was renamed Ferar and started to play in the Romanian league where he made his debut on 25 August 1946 in a 1–0 away loss in front of Ciocanul București. After one season he went to play for UTA Arad which he helped win The Double, being used by coach Petre Steinbach in 26 matches in which he scored a personal record of nine goals, he also played in the 3–2 victory from the 1948 Cupa României final against CFR Timișoara.{{cite web|url=https://www.romaniansoccer.ro/menu_items/champions.shtml|title=Romania National Champions |publisher=RomanianSoccer|access-date=18 July 2024}}{{cite web|url=https://www.romaniansoccer.ro/romanian_cup/1947_1948.shtml|title=Romanian Cup - Season 1947 - 1948|publisher=RomanianSoccer|access-date=18 January 2023}} In the 1950 Divizia A season he won another title with the club, being used by coach Francisc Dvorzsák in 23 matches in which he did not score, also appearing in the 1950 Cupa României final which was lost with 3–1 in front of CCA București.{{cite web|url=https://www.romaniansoccer.ro/romanian_cup/1950.shtml |title=Romanian Cup - Season 1950|publisher=RomanianSoccer|access-date=16 January 2023}} Farmati helped The Old Lady win the 1953 Cupa României, being used all the minutes by coach Coloman Braun-Bogdan in the 1–0 victory in front of CCA București from the final, Braun-Bogdan also using him in 23 matches in the 1954 Divizia A season when he won his third title with the club.{{cite web|url=https://www.romaniansoccer.ro/romanian_cup/1953.shtml|title=Romanian Cup - Season 1953|publisher=RomanianSoccer|access-date=18 January 2023}} On 19 November 1958, Zoltan Farmati made his last Divizia A appearance, playing for UTA in a 3–1 home victory against Petrolul Ploiești, having a total of 217 appearances with 10 goals scored in the competition.
International career
Zoltan Farmati played 21 games at international level for Romania, making his debut under coach Colea Vâlcov in a 3–1 home loss in front of Yugoslavia at the 1947 Balkan Cup.{{cite web|url=https://eu-football.info/_player.php?id=5747|title=Zoltan Farmati profile|publisher=European Football|access-date=18 July 2024}}{{cite web|url=https://eu-football.info/_match.php?id=6463|title=Romania 1-3 Yugoslavia|publisher=European Football|access-date=18 July 2024}} His following game was a 3–2 win over Bulgaria at the same competition. Later life and death
After he ended his playing career, Farmati worked at UTA's center of children and juniors, also working as an assistant several times for the team's senior squad.
He died on 3 January 2006 at age 81.
