According to Seyed Ahmad Husseini, the space spokesman of the Ministry of Defense: The Zuljanah SLV is part of a larger project called "Hazrat Fatemeh Al-Zahra" ({{langx|fa|حضرت فاطمه الزهراء}}). This SLV is considered to be the first indigenously designed and manufactured "hybrid" fuel satellite launch vehicle (solid/liquid fuel).[https://www.independentpersian.com/node/119511 Zuljanah Satellite Carrier, a cover for achieving ballistic missile technology?] independentpersian.com, Retrieved 24 February 2021[https://www.yjc.ir/fa/news/7650769 The research launch of the "Zuljanah Satellite Carrier" was launched by the Ministry of Defense + video] yjc.ir, Retrieved 24 February 2021[https://www.radiofarda.com/a/iran-test-lunch-satellite-luncher-zuljanah/31080789.html Iran says it has launched "Zuljanah Satellite Carrier" into space] radiofarda.com, Retrieved 24 February 2021 As of June 2022, two more test flights are planned.{{Cite web |last=YJC |first=خبرگزاری باشگاه خبرنگاران {{!}} آخرین اخبار ایران و جهان {{!}} |title=پرتاب‌های بعدی ماهواره‌بر ذوالجناح تحقیقاتی است |url=http://www.yjc.news/fa/news/8162358 |access-date=2022-06-15 |website=fa |language=fa}}

Design

Zuljanah measures 25.5 meters (84ft) in length, and has a mass of 52 tons (115,000lbs). The first and second stages utilize an identical 1.5m diameter solid-fuel engine with 74 tons (725 kN; 163,000 lbf) of thrust and a Safir type 1.25m diameter liquid-fuel (UDMH /N2O4) engine with a thrust of 3.5 tons (35 kN; 7,800 lbf) as a third stage. Zuljanah is capable of carrying a single satellite weighing up to 220kg or a constellation of ten smaller 20kg cubesats to Low-Earth Orbit.{{Cite web|date=2021-02-05|title=Iran's Zoljanah Satellite Carrier Launched|url=https://dfnc.ru/en/bez-rubriki/iran-s-zoljanah-satellite-carrier-launched/|access-date=2021-03-09|website=New defence order. Zuljanah is the third civilian Satellite Launch Vehicle made in Iran, after the Safir and Simorgh. It is road-mobile, requires very little fueling time, and can be launched by Transporter-Erector Launchers (TELs), raising alarms from US and EU European defense analysts about its possible covert nature as Iran's first IRBM.{{Cite web|last=Rubin|first=Uzi|title=Iran's winged horse rocket: Another step towards global reach|url=https://www.jns.org/opinion/irans-winged-horse-rocket-another-step-towards-global-reach/|access-date=2021-03-09|website=JNS.org|language=en-US}}{{Cite web|title=¬Iran's Space Dreams Are Clear and Dangerous {{!}} International Institute for Iranian Studies|url=https://rasanah-iiis.org/english/monitoring-and-translation/reports/%c2%acirans-space-dreams-are-clear-and-dangerous/|access-date=2021-03-09|language=ar}}
