Bipartite patella is a condition where the patella, or kneecap, is composed of two separate bones. Instead of fusing together as normally occurs in early childhood, the bones of the patella remain separated.{{Cite web|url=http://orthopedics.about.com/od/kneecappatelladisorders/g/bipartite.htm|publisher=About.com|title=Kneecap (Patella) Injury|access-date=13 April 2014|archive-date=4 March 2016|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160304201510/http://orthopedics.about.com/od/kneecappatelladisorders/g/bipartite.htm|url-status=dead}} The condition occurs in approximately 1{{ndash}}2% of the population{{Cite web|url=http://www.orthobullets.com/pediatrics/4049/bipartite-patella|publisher=Orthobullets.com|title=Bipartite Patella - Pediatrics - Orthobullets.com|access-date=13 April 2014}}{{Cite web|url=http://radiopaedia.org/articles/bipartite-patella|publisher=Orthobullets.com|title=
