Fahlore, or Fahlerz, refers to an ore consisting of complex sulfosalts, mostly the series between tennantite {{chem2|(Cu6[Cu4(Fe,Zn)2]As4S13}} and tetrahedrite {{chem2|(Cu6[Cu4(Fe,Zn)2]Sb4S13}}. It comes from the German word for pale, {{lang|de|fahl}}. This refers to the characteristic pale grey to dark black colour.{{Cite book|title=Die Namen der Steine : das Mineralreich im Spiegel der Sprache : mit einem Wörterbuch, enthaltend über 1300 Namen von Mineralien, Gesteinen, Edelsteinen, Fabel- und Zaubersteinen|author=Lüschen, Hans|date=1979|publisher=Ott|isbn=3722562651|edition=2., neubearb. und erw.
