History

The dish, known as ohn no khao swè, originated in Burma, and came to the Memon community of India who adapted this dish, likely coinciding with the emigration of South Asians from Burma in the 1960s, and is now a representative Memon dish now known as khausa.{{Cite web|url=https://gulfnews.com/world/asia/pakistan/khausa-a-tale-of-two-cities---yangon-and-karachi-1.1541422747664|title=Khausa: A tale of two cities - Yangon and Karachi|website=gulfnews.com|language=en|access-date=2019-10-31}}
