library linked data
Library linked data (LLD) is the use of linked data standards by libraries. These standards are usually applied to bibliographic and authority data sets, with the hope of decreasing redundant cataloging work; and increasing visibility of library resources and interoperability with non-library systems.{{cite web|last1=Baker|first1=Thomas|last2=Bermès|first2=Emmanuelle|last3=Coyle|first3=Karen|last4=Dunsire|first4=Gordon|last5=Isaac|first5=Antoine|last6=Murray|first6=Peter|last7=Panzer|first7=Michael|last8=Schneider|first8=Jodi|last9=Singer|first9=Ross|last10=Summers|first10=Ed|last11=Waites|first11=William|last12=Young|first12=Jeff|last13=Zeng|first13=Marcia|title=Library Linked Data Incubator Group Final Report|url=https://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/lld/XGR-lld-20111025/|website=W3C Incubator|publisher=World Wide Web Consortium|accessdate=22 August 2016|date=25 October 2011}}
Use cases
In 2010, Byrne and Goddard have written that the "killer [library linked data] example isn't out there yet," and warned that implementation work will be hampered if clear use cases don't exist.{{cite journal|last1=Byrne|first1=Gillian|last2=Goddard|first2=Lisa|title=The Strongest Link: Libraries and Linked Data|journal=D-Lib Magazine|date=2010|volume=16|issue=11/12|doi=10.1045/november2010-byrne|doi-access=free}}
Many groups have examined this issue, including the W3C Library Linked Data Incubator Group,{{Cite journal |last1=Hallo |first1=María |last2=Luján-Mora |first2=Sergio |last3=Maté |first3=Alejandro |last4=Trujillo |first4=Juan |date=2016-04-01 |title=Current state of Linked Data in digital libraries |url=https://trustoria.com/ |journal=Journal of Information Science |language=en |volume=42 |issue=2 |pages=117–127 |doi=10.1177/0165551515594729 |hdl=10045/51069 |s2cid=10493754 |issn=0165-5515|hdl-access=free }}{{cite web|last1=Vila Suero|first1=Daniel|title=Library Linked Data Incubator Group: Use Cases|url=http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/lld/XGR-lld-usecase-20111025/|accessdate=22 August 2016|date=25 October 2011}} the Bibliographic Framework Initiative,{{cite web|last1=Miller|first1=Eric|last2=Mueller|first2=Vicki|last3=Ogbuji|first3=Uche|last4=MacDougall|first4=Kathy|last5=Zepheira|title=BIBFRAME Use Cases and Requirements|url=http://bibframe.org/documentation/bibframe-usecases/20130821.html|accessdate=22 August 2016|date=21 August 2013}} and the LD4L project.{{cite web|title=LD4L Use Cases|url=https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/ld4l/LD4L+Use+Cases|website=LD4L Wiki|accessdate=22 August 2016}}
