There are two varieties of lingm: the dong lingm ({{lang|dz|གདོང་གླིངམ་}} {{bo|w=gdong-glingm}}), which is front-blown; and the zur lingm ({{lang|dz|ཟུར་གླིངམ་}}, {{bo|w=zur-glingm}}), which is side-blown.
