Matrice is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Campobasso in the Italian region Molise, located about {{convert|7|km|mi|0}} northeast of Campobasso. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,081 and an area of {{convert|20.4|km2|mi2}}.All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.
Matrice borders the following municipalities: Campobasso, Campolieto, Castellino del Biferno, Montagano, Petrella Tifernina, Ripalimosani, San Giovanni in Galdo.
At the beginning of the 20th century, many residents of Matrice began to immigrate to the U.S.
