The rostral interstitial nucleus of medial longitudinal fasciculus (riMLF) is a collection of neurons in the medial longitudinal fasciculus in the midbrain.{{Cite book |last=Patestas |first=Maria A. |title=A Textbook of Neuroanatomy |last2=Gartner |first2=Leslie P. |date= |publisher=Wiley-Blackwell |year=2016 |isbn=978-1-118-67746-9 |edition=2nd |location=Hoboken, New Jersey |pages=310}} It is responsible for mediating vertical conjugate eye movements (vertical gaze){{Cite book |last=Standring |first=Susan |url=https://www.worldcat.org/oclc/1201341621 |title=Gray's Anatomy: The Anatomical Basis of Clinical Practice |publisher=Elsevier |year=2020 |isbn=978-0-7020-7707-4 |edition=42th |location=New York |pages= |oclc=1201341621}}{{Rp|page=458.e1}} and vertical saccades.{{Cite book |last=Kiernan |first=John A. |title=Barr's The Human Nervous System: An Anatomical Viewpoint |last2=Rajakumar |first2=Nagalingam |date= |publisher=Wolters Kluwer Lippincott Williams & Wilkins |year=2013 |isbn=978-1-4511-7327-7 |edition=10th |location=Philadelphia}}{{Rp|page=122}} It mostly projects efferents to the ipsilateral oculomotor and trochlear nuclei.{{Rp|page=458.e1}}

Anatomy
= Structure =
The riMLF is a wing-shaped nucleus.{{Rp|page=458.e1}}
The riMLF contains two populations of neurons: excitatory burst neurons mediating vertical gaze/saccades, as well as omnipause neurons which are functionally similar to those mediating horizontal gaze.{{Rp|page=1464.e17}}
= Relations =
It is situated at the caudal extremity of the mesencephalon at its junction with the telencephalon,{{Rp|page=156}} at the level of the superior colliculus. It is situated dorsal to the rostral extremity of the red nucleus, and rostral to the interstitial nucleus of Cajal.{{Rp|page=458.e1}}
