My first logged-in edit to Wikipedia was on 6 April, 2004. I was made a Wikipedia administrator on 4 September, 2005. I use admin tools somewhat rarely, mostly just deleting unneeded pages or fixing pages most people can't edit.

My current Wikipedia programming project is Wikipedia:Typo Team/moss, which aims to spell-check, grammar-check, and style-check all of the English Wikipedia. Previously I worked on Pearle Wisebot, which has been offline for a few years. I'm also using JWB to do a cleanup for WP:INFONAT. (These projects are why I have made hundreds of thousands of edits; actually sitting down and writing or re-writing content takes a lot more time per edit, but is often more interesting.)

I have some training and experience in journalism, science, engineering, software, public policy, STS, and photography. With moss and RETF, I fix typos and find certain types of bad content systematically; I'm also in the habit of fact-checking or tagging problematic content as come across it. It's a nice day when I can add something new and informative to the project, which happens on a lot of random topics I probably heard about on NPR or came up in a book. I occasionally upload a photo or edit an existing image.

I'm a bit concerned about the growing backlog of work for editors, as well as editor retention, civility, and diversity, and productivity. Sometimes I can use software to solve problems in these areas, but sometimes they just need to be tackled one at a time as they are encountered.
