The Civic Movement ({{langx|cs|Občanské hnutí}}, OH) was a liberal political party based in the Czech Republic, which existed from 1991 to 1995. The party was established after the break-up of Civic Forum by the liberal wing of Civic Forum, while the conservative wing established the Civic Democratic Party.{{cite web |publisher=Česká televize |title=Podle Klause se ODS mění v Občanské hnutí |url=http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/ct24/domaci/1411474-podle-klause-se-ods-meni-v-obcanske-hnuti |website=ČT24 |accessdate=9 January 2017}} Foreign Minister Jiří Dienstbier was elected leader of the Civic Movement. The party participated in the 1992 legislative election but failed to reach the required 5% threshold and was left without parliamentary representation.

The party then renamed itself as the Free Democrats (Svobodní demokraté, SD),{{cite book|last1=Nekvapil|first1=Václav|last2=Kubáček|first2=Jan|title=Testy – Politologie a mezinárodní vztahy|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=2WkIAQAAQBAJ&q=ob%C4%8Dansk%C3%A9+hnut%C3%AD+vzniklo&pg=PA89|publisher=Fragment, Albatros Media a.s.|accessdate=9 January 2017|language=cs|date=23 June 2011|isbn=9788025315804}} modelled on the Free Democratic Party of Germany, as the party tried to position itself as a more clearcut liberal party.{{Cite book |first1=Rick |last1=Fawn |first2=Jiří |last2=Hochman |title=Historical Dictionary of the Czech State |edition=2nd |publisher=Scarecrow Press |year=2010 |pages=102–103 |chapter=Free Democrats–Liberal National Social Party}} The party joined the Liberal International and was admitted as an affiliate to the European Liberal Democrats and Reformists (ELDR) in 1994.{{Cite journal |first=Mats |last=Öhlén |title=The Eastward Expansion of the European Liberal Party Family: the Relation between the European Liberal Party Family and Liberal Parties in Central and Eastern Europe |journal=XV Conference of the Nordic Political Science Association (NoPSA) |place=Tromsø |date=August 2008 |pages=11, 13}}

In December 1995 the Free Democrats merged with the Liberal National Social Party (successor to the former bloc party Czechoslovak Socialist Party) and formed the Free Democrats – Liberal National Social Party (SD-LSNS), which was again, however, unsuccessful in the 1996 legislative election.{{cite web|title=POLITIKA: Dvacet let by bylo i Občanskému hnutí |url=http://neviditelnypes.lidovky.cz/politika-dvacet-let-by-bylo-i-obcanskemu-hnuti-f4q-/p_politika.aspx?c=A110430_210015_p_politika_wag|website=Lidovky.cz|accessdate=9 January 2017|date=2 May 2011}}{{cite web |publisher=Česká televize |title=OF(F).
