Desulfuromonas acetoxidans is a species of bacteria. It is strictly anaerobic, rod-shaped, laterally flagellated and Gram-negative. It is unable to ferment organic substances; it obtains energy for growth by anaerobic sulfur respiration.{{cite journal|last1=Pfennig|first1=Norbert|last2=Biebl|first2=Hanno|title=Desulfuromonas acetoxidans gen. nov. and sp. nov., a new anaerobic, sulfur-reducing, acetate-oxidizing bacterium|journal=Archives of Microbiology|volume=110|issue=1|year=1976|pages=3–12|issn=0302-8933|doi=10.1007/BF00416962}}
