The team's name, Portland Bangers FC, and crest were announced on February 5, 2025. The "bangers" name refers to both the British nickname for sausages as well as a term in soccer for a long-distance goal.{{cite news |last=Saslow |first=Rachel |date=February 5, 2025 |title=Portland's New Soccer Team Will Be the Bangers |url=https://www.wweek.com/sports/2025/02/05/portlands-new-soccer-team-will-be-the-bangers/ |work=Willamette Week |accessdate=February 7, 2025}} Former Timbers captain Diego Valeri was also announced as assistant coach and team advisor. The Bangers plan to play at Hilken Community Stadium in the Concordia neighborhood, with capacity expected to be lower than Walker Stadium, a 1,566-spectator ballpark used by the Pickles. The team plans to have several theme nights similar to the Pickles.

The crest is a green roundel with a white shield that is inspired by the arches of St. Johns Bridge that features the team's mascot, Saucy T. Sausage, a pink sausage.{{cite news |last=Jensen |first=Alex |date=February 5, 2025 |title=Meet Rose City's newest pre-pro soccer team, Portland Bangers FC |url=https://www.kgw.com/article/sports/soccer/portland-pre-professional-soccer-bangers-fc-pickles/283-ad231945-12ae-4880-91ab-a7432429dd4d |publisher=KGW |accessdate=February 7, 2025}} The logo features Saucy T.
