Change “and Turkey” to “and Türkiye” 64.88.204.182 (talk) 14:23, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

: {{not done}}, we use the common English name, here as in the main Turkey article. Fut.Perf. 15:14, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

Lead

Recently the last paragraph of the lead was simplified by removing some examples of international organizations, which Greece is part of (diff). Seeing it now, I agree that listing random organizations, per WP:COUNTRYDETAIL, might indeed not be so necessary (although majority of country articles still keep this information). While I don't have an opinion about most of these, I do think that participation in some major organizations still deserves a mention in the lead. Notably, Greece joinging the EU in 1981, or perhaps even NATO earlier, was a pivotal moment in modern Greek history and the country's trajectory and certainly worth noting, in consistency with all other EU member states articles. I'm greek and since greece is an orthodox country and most of the cities in greece have two flags, the greek orthodox flag (double headed eagle with an yellow background) next to the greek flag, almost every village, city or historical site has one in greece, i think yall should add the state religion flag next to the greek flag and coat of arms

:@Skidriote: {{not done}}: welcome to Wikipedia. The church doesn't represent the country so it isn't included. Also, Wikipedia cannot accept information based on your personal experience; information must be verifible. Please provide a reliable source to support this change. Thank you. :i have multiple photos of places in greece with the double headed flag next to the greek flag and the church does represent the country since greece is an orthodox country, not secular, its flags are always next to a greek one. Skidriote (talk) 00:39, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Failure to reference persecution of ottoman muslims

The Wikipedia page for the Hellenic Republic fails to mention its participation in the genocide of ottoman Muslims. This is a fact and unfortunately one of the founding pillars of the Greek nation. 2A0A:EF40:134:7201:4008:F76:119D:F942 (talk) 03:47, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

:Excellent idea, and we can also mention Algeria's genocide against the French people (I don't know how they got to Algeria in the first place, or why that would be important), or Libya's completely uncalled for expulsion of Italian Catholics. Or maybe Iraqis and Afghans killing Americans just for wearing camouflage suits. Unknown Temptation (talk) 19:26, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
