He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners and signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He has previously played in the NFL for the Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and New York Giants.

On October 6, 2019, in a game against the Steelers, Jefferson was in coverage when he fell to the ground, grabbing his knee.
