Srabanta Deb was an editor who edits were mainly of a Hindu religious nature. He created (and re-created) articles on various Hindu temples (they have recently been deleted). He was also interested in Santa Das Kathiababa and his predecessor Ramdas Kathiababa. Srabanta Deb was blocked on 24 September 2023.

Radha Krishna Nama was created on Commons on 28 February 2023,^{[https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/Radha_Krishna_Nama&target=Radha+Krishna+Nama&offset=20231001133405&limit=100]} and has recently started editing Wikipedia.

I do not have access to the article histories for Srabanta Deb's deleted temple articles, but as I remember, there were sometimes very short time intervals between Radha Krishna Nama's Commons account uploading images and Srabanta Deb's Wikipedia account using them in in articles. What drew my attention to Deb Pradipta was their edit to :Kathia Baba,^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kathia_Baba&diff=1183579206&oldid=1024855468]} which added statements that were not supported by the citations he/she provided. This was typical of Srabanta Deb. (Note that a URL provided by Deb Pradipta^{[https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/company/]} is wrong, this is the URL intended.^{[https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/company/kathiababa-agrotech-private-limited/U01403WB2012PTC189325]} But it did not support the content it was cited for.)

A new account (Ms Rumi Akter) placed a correctly-completed speedy deletion template on :Santadas Kathiababa.^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Santadas_Kathiababa&diff=prev&oldid=1184308566]} It seems most unlikely that a genuine first-time editor would know how to do this. Clearly they are not a sock of Srabanta Deb; but I suspect that they are a sock of somebody. The account was created two minutes before they made their edit. The Bozz aldrin account was created on 4 October 2023 (a few days after Srabanta Deb's block was changed to indefinite). But except for two edits to establish the account on 4 October 2023, all his edits were made after the Deb Pradipta sock account got blocked.

Judging from his edits, he is not a native speaker of English.

Like Deb Pradipta, Bozz aldrin objects to the "page needed" tags that I placed next to citations to books in the article on :Santadas Kathiababa. (I think the reason for the objection is that it would require him to actually read and understand the sources he is citing. I doubt that his language skills make that possible.)

Going by the letter of the rules, it's somewhat ambiguous whether you also get to close the case, since administrators "may not: [...] decline a CheckUser request [...]" (WP:SPI/P), but in practice people generally won't mind you going from an open CU request to closing after a DUCK block. It can still be a good idea to leave the request in place if there is e.g. a history of sleepers, and you always have the option of just keeping the status as is and having a clerk decide. --Blablubbs (talk) 15:39, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

After Srabanta Deb's previous sockpuppet account was blocked, he/she tried logged-out editing at :Ramdas Kathiababa with IP 58.145.187.238, IP 202.86.223.187 and IP 202.181.19.254. But his/her edits got reverted by Materialscientist, who protected the page because the IP editors kept adding unsourced or poorly sourced content.

IP 202.181.19.254 also posted on :User talk:Materialscientist,^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AMaterialscientist&diff=1185325648&oldid=1185320593]} :User talk:Thryduulf^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AThryduulf&diff=1185336814&oldid=1184834488]} and :User talk:Jc37^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Jc37&diff=prev&oldid=1185337020]} concerning :Santadas Kathiababa.

But he/she found that images of Santadas Kathiababa, etc. posted by his/her previous sockpuppets started to be deleted from Commons, so he/she created a new sockpuppet account Killz Gough, whose contribution history on commons shows shows that he/she has uploaded pictures to do with Santadas Kathiababa, Ramdas Kathiababa, and Dhananjaya Das Kathiababa; all of which were topics of interest to Srabanta Deb and his/her socks. One of the uploaded files is :c:File:Santadas_Kathiababa.jpg, the previous version of which was deleted on Commons by Krd on 13-14 November.
(The metadata in the new version of this file revealed that Srabanta Deb has a Samsung Galaxy M31 [SM-M315F]).

Killz Gough has used :Template:Infobox Wikipedia user, just like Srabanta Deb, Deb Pradipta, Bozz aldrin, Rozz Taile and Gc Ray.^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Killz_Gough&oldid=1185515250]}

Killz Gough made ten edits to English-language Wikipedia during a 20 minute period on 17 November; he/she has evidently understood :WP:AUTOCONFIRM. The Killz Gough account cannot make edits to :Santadas Kathiababa or :Ramdas Kathiababa because they require autoconfirmed or confirmed access. He/she has so far made one edit to :Dhananjaya Das Kathiababa adding an image that he/she uploaded on Commons.^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dhananjaya_Das_Kathiababa&diff=prev&oldid=1185568978]} Srabanta Deb has a history of editing articles related to anything Kathiababa.

Confusion of centuries:

• Santadas Kathiababa was born in 1859, and Srabanta Deb thinks that 1859 was in the 18th-Century. So if you look at deleted versions of articles on Santadas Kathiababa created by Srabanta Deb under different article names, you will see that Srabanta Deb initially put them in 18th-Century categories.
• Killz Gough makes a similar mistake; :Dhananjaya Das Kathiababa lived from 1901 to 1983, and he thinks those dates were in the 19th-Century, and therefore puts Dhananjaya Das Kathiababa in 19th-Century categories.^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dhananjaya_Das_Kathiababa&diff=next&oldid=1185723741]}

The Gc Ray account acts as a page-move account for recent Srabanta Deb's sock accounts. (If you look at the article histories for deleted versions of :Santadas Kathiababa/:Santa Das Kathiababa/:Santadasji Kathia Baba/:Swami Santa Dasji Kathiababa, you will see that Srabanta Deb liked adding a page move to the history of these pages; presumably to confuse other editors.) I believe that the reason for wanting a different account to make the moves was to create the illusion that a third-party account had reviewed the draft articles.

At first sight, Gc Ray appears to be capable of creating competently cited articles, such as :Historical Brahminism.^{[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Historical_Brahminism&action=history article history]} I initially thought that this was evidence that he/she was not Srabanta Deb, but then I noticed that what he/she did was to adapt stuff he/she copied from :Historical Vedic religion#Historical Brahminism.

There is one piece of evidence that suggests that they are different. Global contributions for [https://guc.toolforge.org/?by=date&user=Gc+Ray Gc Ray] and [https://guc.toolforge.org/?by=date&user=Killz+Gough Killz Gough] for 17 November 2023 have them both making edits between 07:14 and 07:16 (UTC). This is possible but difficult since Gc Ray was logged in to English Wikipedia, whilst Killz Gough made edits to sa. ne. and or. Wikipedias.

Hello, I am Aftabuzzaman from bnwiki, also sysop there. "User:Gc Ray" is a Bengali wiki contributor & made good amount of edit there. As far i saw there, the user isn't vandal, abuser etc. The user mostly interested in articles related to hinduism. I don't belive User:Gc Ray is a sock. My guess is, he is friend with Srabanta Deb on facebook, communicating via messenger, telegram etc & Srabanta Deb is asking him to do those mentions by User:Toddy1. Most like User:Gc Ray is not aware of WP:MEAT.

Bengali Wikipedia is small wiki & we don't have thousand of editors like enwiki. It will be unfortunate if we lose an active editor on bnwiki (assuming if he gets a block here on enwiki, steward will block him also globally). :@আফতাবুজ্জামান These cases tend to be decided with technical CU evidence, if there is indeed evidence of socking, both the editors will be blocked. That being said @Toddy1's claim of {{tq|This is possible but difficult since Gc Ray was logged in to English Wikipedia, whilst Killz Gough made edits to sa. ne. and or. Wikipedias.}} does not seem likely, and based purely on the behavioural evidence WP:MEAT (or WP:SHAREDACCOUNT) seems like a plausible explanation.

Hindu Sanskriti has recreated the article on :Dhananjay Das Kathiababa. This is an article that Srabanta Deb and his/her socks have often created under different names. It has been deleted at AFD three times: Dhananjaya Dasa Kathiyababa, Dhananjay Das Kathiababa Dhananjaya Das Kathiababa - notice how he/she likes to use slightly different spellings to evade scrutiny. In creating articles, Srabanta Deb likes to do a page move, which creates a redirect. In this case, he/she created the article at 05:50, 5 March 2024‎ (UTC), and did the [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dhananjay_Das_Kathiababa&diff=1211917162&oldid=1211917037 page move] as the fifth edit at 05:54, 5 March 2024‎ (UTC).
