{{About||the Raphael Saadiq song|100 Yard Dash|the 2023 Chinese film|100 Yards}}
The 100-yard dash is a track and field sprint event of {{convert|100|yd|2|abbr=off}}. It was part of the Commonwealth Games until 1970, and was included in the triathlon of the Olympics in 1904. It is not generally used in international events, replaced by the 100-metre sprint (109.36 yards). However, it is still occasionally run in the United States in certain competitions; in the NCAA championships it was last run in 1975.{{cite news |url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=pyZVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=ZoADAAAAIBAJ&pg=6650%2C1548214 |work=Deseret News |location=(Salt Lake City, Utah) |last=Ferguson |first=George |title=NCAA gun lap tonight, UTEP leads |date=7 June 1975 |page=A6}}{{cite news |url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=_qtVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=K-EDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6752%2C901061 |work=Eugene Register-Guard |location=(Oregon) |title=NCAA summary |date=4 June 1976 |page=3D}} Walter Halben Butler (1852–1931) is credited with being the first to run the race in 10 seconds.{{cite news|title=First 10-Second Man and Legislator Dies|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/18036231/walter_halben_butler_18521931/ |newspaper=Jefferson City Post-Tribune|date=24 April 1931|page=1|via = Newspapers.com|access-date = 6 March 2018}} {{Open access}}
