It was organised by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) and featured 14 countries, although it only featured Poland from three of the 'Big four' leagues, with the British, Swedish and Danish leagues choosing not to compete.{{cite web |url=https://www.historyspeedway.nstrefa.pl/klubowype.php |title=Historical statement of results 1998-2012 |website=Historia Sportu Zuzlowego |access-date=15 March 2024}}{{cite web |url=http://www.speedway.hg.pl/zyx_dodatek_specjalny/turnieje_m_narod_historia/KPE.htm |title=Klubowy Puchar Europy |website=Speedway.hg |access-date=15 March 2024}}{{cite web |url=https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/99539/przed-finalem-kpe-w-toruniu-historia-zawodow |title=Before the KPE final in Toruń: the history of the competition |website=Sporto We Fakty |date=16 September 2009 |access-date=15 March 2024}}
