The 2012 European Tour was the 41st season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972.

Changes for 2012

Prior to the start of the 2011 season, the tour had announced their intention to realign the schedule with the calendar.{{cite web |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/golf/9235927.stm |title=European Tour unveils 2011 Race to Dubai schedule |work=BBC Sport |date=28 November 2010 |access-date=18 June 2020}} As a result, in 2012 there were several changes from the previous season. There was initially one new tournament in 2012, the ISPS Handa Perth International, and several tournaments were dropped: the Castelló Masters, the Iskandar Johor Open, and the Alfred Dunhill Championship,{{cite web |url=https://www.golfchannel.com/article/golftalkcentral/european-tour-releases-complete-2012-schedule |title=European Tour releases complete 2012 schedule |work=Golf Channel |date=19 December 2011 |access-date=18 June 2020}} which was played in December as part of the 2013 season.

During the season, the BMW Masters in China was added to the schedule,{{cite web |url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/golf/17814727 |title=European Tour adds BMW Masters in Shanghai to schedule |work=BBC Sport |date=23 April 2012 |access-date=18 June 2020}} the Czech Open was cancelled,{{cite web |url=https://www.golfchannel.com/news/lack-funding-cancels-czech-open |title=Czech Open canceled for 2012 |work=Golf Channel |date=18 May 2012 |access-date=21 June 2020}} and three tournaments in Spain were also cancelled: the Iberdrola Open,{{cite magazine |url=https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2012/03/20/iberdrola-open-mallorca-canceled-no-sponsor/ |title=Lacking a sponsor, Iberdrola Open cancels |magazine=Golfweek |date=20 March 2012 |access-date=21 June 2020}} the Madrid Masters,{{cite news |url=https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/8146886/european-tour-madrid-open-canceled-funding |title=Madrid Open wiped from calendar |work=ESPN |agency=Associated Press |date=10 July 2012 |access-date=10 July 2012}} and the Andalucía Masters.{{cite news |url=https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/8368925/european-tour-andalucia-masters-canceled-due-financial-crisis |title=Andalucia Masters canceled |work=ESPN |agency=Associated Press |date=12 September 2012 |access-date=13 September 2012}}
