The 2nd Annual Streamy Awards, presented by the International Academy of Web Television, was the second installment of the Streamy Awards honoring streaming television series. The awards were held on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Paul Scheer served as the host of the presentation. Over 1,300 audience members were in attendance and the show was broadcast live online.{{Cite web |last=Jenni Powell |date=April 11, 2010 |title=The 2nd Annual Streamy Awards: The Winners |url=http://www.tubefilter.com/2010/04/11/the-2nd-annual-streamy-awards-the-winners/ |publisher=Tubefilter |accessdate=February 4, 2013}}
The show was met with technical difficulties and other disruptions throughout the ceremony and was criticized for its humour which was viewed as unfunny, crude, and deprecatory of internet culture.{{Cite web|last=Broadley|first=Erin|date=April 12, 2010|title=Porn Jokes vs. Net Neutrality: 2nd Annual Streamy Awards Backlash 'Echo Chamber' and the Future of Web as Entertainment Medium|url=https://www.laweekly.com/porn-jokes-vs-net-neutrality-2nd-annual-streamy-awards-backlash-echo-chamber-and-the-future-of-web-as-entertainment-medium/|url-status=live|access-date=August 12, 2021|website=LA Weekly|language=en-US|archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20200809025908/https://www.laweekly.com/porn-jokes-vs-net-neutrality-2nd-annual-streamy-awards-backlash-echo-chamber-and-the-future-of-web-as-entertainment-medium/ |archive-date = August 9, 2020 }} Controversy surrounding the reception of the event led to the International Academy of Web Television splitting from the show to create its own separate awards show, the IAWTV Awards, and a two-year hiatus of the Streamys.{{Cite news|last=Miller|first=Liz Shannon|date=August 7, 2011|title=Will the web series world support the new Streamy Awards?|work=Reuters|url=https://www.reuters.com/article/idUS130977575220110807|access-date=September 17, 2017}}{{Cite web|last=Aymar Jean Christian|date=December 17, 2012|title=On Giving the Streamys (and the IAWTV) a Chance|url=http://tvisual.org/2012/12/17/on-giving-the-streamys-and-the-iawtv-a-chance/|publisher=Televisual|accessdate=February 4, 2013|archive-date=October 4, 2013|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20131004215539/http://tvisual.org/2012/12/17/on-giving-the-streamys-and-the-iawtv-a-chance/|url-status=dead}}

Reception
The show was poorly received by viewers, attendees and sponsors of the event, leading to an apology from the producer, Brady Brim-DeForest, and rumours that sponsors of the event wanted their money refunded.{{Cite web |first=Liz Shannon |last=Miller |date=April 12, 2010 |title=The Streamy Awards: A Producer's Apology And Its Three Fails |url=http://gigaom.com/2010/04/12/the-streamy-awards-a-producers-apology-and-its-three-fails/ |website=GigaOM |access-date=February 4, 2013 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140308050744/http://gigaom.com/2010/04/12/the-streamy-awards-a-producers-apology-and-its-three-fails/ |archive-date=March 8, 2014}} The show was criticized for its long runtime of over 3 hours, technical failures throughout the ceremony,{{Cite web|last=Nicoletti|first=Karen|date=April 11, 2010|title=Streamys Honor Best of Web Series|url=https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/streamys-honor-best-web-series-22515/|url-status=live|access-date=July 4, 2021|website=The Hollywood Reporter|language=en-US|archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20210709185957/https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/streamys-honor-best-web-series-22515/ |archive-date = July 9, 2021 }}{{Cite news|first=Kara |last=Swisher|author-link=Kara Swisher|date=April 13, 2010|title=Viral Video: How to Get Nominated for a Streamy|url=http://allthingsd.com/20100413/viral-video-how-to-get-nominated-for-a-streamy/|url-status=live|website=|publisher=All Things Digital|accessdate=February 4, 2013|archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20140101170521/http://allthingsd.com/20100413/viral-video-how-to-get-nominated-for-a-streamy/ |archive-date = January 1, 2014 }} and for containing unfunny, crude and sexist jokes, including jokes about porn, masturbation and vaginal rejuvenation. The show was also interrupted by streakers as part of a stunt by Best Reality or Documentary Web Series nominee Streak to Win. The poor reception of the event, and the surrounding controversy, resulted in the International Academy of Web Television separating from the Streamys to create its own awards, the IAWTV Awards, and a two-year hiatus of the Streamys.
Many online content creators, including iJustine and Chris Hardwick, felt that the ceremony did not represent online content creation and worried that it would be a setback for the medium being taken seriously. iJustine said that the show's skits had made her feel uncomfortable and condemned the excessive vulgarity, saying that she had left the event "feeling confused, embarrassed and a bunch of other emotions that I still have yet to put my finger on."{{Cite web |last=iJustine |author-link=iJustine |date=April 12, 2010 |title=2010 Streamy Awards |url=http://ijustine.com/2010-streamy-awards/ |url-status=dead |publisher=iJustine.com |accessdate=February 4, 2013 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130718105037/http://ijustine.com/2010-streamy-awards/ |archivedate=July 18, 2013}} Jim Louderback, CEO of the multi-channel network Revision3, called the show a "misogynistic, puerile, protracted and poorly executed event" and criticised one of the monologues that "went beyond poking fun at the industry, and was more like a spit in the face."{{Cite web|last=Louderback|first=Jim|date=April 14, 2010|title=Moving Beyond the Streamy Awards Train Wreck - Jim Louderback - MediaBizBloggers|url=https://www.mediavillage.com/article/moving-beyond-the-streamy-awards-train-wreck-jim-louderback-mediabizbloggers/|url-status=live|access-date=December 30, 2021|website=MediaVillage|language=en|archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20211231000331/https://www.mediavillage.com/article/moving-beyond-the-streamy-awards-train-wreck-jim-louderback-mediabizbloggers/ |archive-date = December 31, 2021 }} YouTuber Michael Buckley also criticized the event in a tweet saying "All of the technical problems were one thing but it seemed like the jokes were picking on the internet – not CELEBRATING what we do." Erin Broadley of LA Weekly similarly opined "The technical difficulties were forgivable for an event only two years young; it was the tone of the program that was most upsetting to people, who saw last year's optimism replaced by self-deprecating humor and masturbation jokes". Due to nominees and award winners' disappointment with the show, an unofficial redo of the ceremony was held at the ACME Comedy Theatre.{{Cite magazine|last=Hart|first=Hugh|date=April 16, 2010|title=Streamy Winners Redo Widely Scorned Awards Show|language=en-US|magazine=Wired|url=https://www.wired.com/2010/04/streamy-redo/|access-date=July 4, 2021}}
