Abu El Matamir ({{langx|ar|ابو المطامير}}  {{IPA|arz|abol.mɑtˤɑˈmiːɾ|pron}}) is a city in Egypt. In 2006, it had a population of 44,415.{{cite web|url=http://www.citypopulation.de/Egypt.html|title=Egypt:Governorates and Major Cities|publisher=City Population.de|accessdate=19 July 2012}}

The city existed before the Islamic conquest of Egypt, and the Romans used it as a grain storage. The city acquired this name because wheat was stored in the past in Matamirs.

Etymology

The Arabic name is from two words {{lang|ar|ابو}} "attributed"/"belonging"/father" and {{lang|ar|المطامير}} "the plummets".

Climate

Köppen climate classification system classifies its climate as hot desert (BWh).
