Anna Devor ({{Langx|he|אנה דבור}}) is an Israeli-American biomedical engineer who is a full professor at Boston University. Her research considers neuronal imaging and new strategies to better understand brain function. She is the editor of Neurophotonics, an SPIE journal.
Early life and education
Devor was an undergraduate student in Israel. She moved to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for doctoral studies, where she studied biophysical mechanisms of membrane potential oscillations in a network of coupled neurons. After earning her doctorate, she moved to the Massachusetts General Hospital to work as a postdoc in brain imaging technology.{{Cite web |date=2017-07-27 |title=Anna Devor |url=https://globalneuroethicssummit.com/amo-team/anna-devor/ |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200927124448/https://globalneuroethicssummit.com/amo-team/anna-devor/ |url-status=usurped |archive-date=September 27, 2020 |access-date=2022-12-26 |website=Global Neuroethics Summit |language=en-US}}
Research and career
Devor launched her own research laboratory at University of California, San Diego in 2005, where she has worked on technologies that enable the real time detection of brain activity.{{Cite web |title=Anna Devor, PhD {{!}} Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering Building |url=https://www.bu.edu/kilachandcenter/the-team/anna-devor/ |access-date=2022-12-26 |website=www.bu.edu}} She combines these measurements with system-level analysis and functional magnetic resonance imaging. She created a brain-computer interface that had a flexible backing with penetrating microneedles, which can interface with the human brain and record signals from nearby neurons.{{Cite web |title=A new brain-computer interface with a flexible backing |url=https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/946540 |access-date=2022-12-26 |website=EurekAlert! |language=en}}
Devor has developed summer schools based on neuroimaging, microscopy and blood flow regulation.{{Cite web |title=Anna Devor {{!}} Profiles RNS |url=https://profiles.bu.edu/Anna.Devor |access-date=2022-12-26 |website=profiles.bu.edu |language=en}} Devor is the editor-in-chief of Neurophotonics, an SPIE journal.{{Cite web |title=New editor-in-chief appointed for SPIE journal Neurophotonics |url=https://spie.org/news/new-editor-in-chief-appointed-for-spie-journal-neurophotonics |access-date=2022-12-26 |website=spie.org}}
