Works

The collaboration between {{Lang|es|RAE}} and the other academies was expressed in the coauthorship, since the 22nd edition published in 2001, of the Dictionary of the Spanish Language (Spanish: {{lang|es|Diccionario de la Lengua Española}}), and the 1999 edition of the Orthography (Spanish: {{lang|es|Ortografía}}) was considered a true pan-Hispanic work. Joint projects include the editing of the Grammar (Spanish: {{lang|es|Gramática}}) and the compilation of the Dictionary of Americanisms (Spanish: {{lang|es|Diccionario de americanismos}}).{{Citation needed|date=October 2017}}

Organization

The association convenes every four years, led by a Permanent Commission composed of a President (position held by the Director of the Spanish Royal Academy), a Secretary General (one of the directors of the other academies), a Treasurer (chosen by the Spanish Royal Academy), and at least two board members drawn from the associated academies, whose nomination rotate annually.{{Cite web|url=http://www.asale.org/la-asociacion/presentacion/estatutos-y-organizacion|title=Estatutos y organización|website=Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española|archive-url=https://archive.today/20140408043926/http://www.asale.org/la-asociacion/presentacion/estatutos-y-organizacion|archive-date=8 April 2014|url-status=dead|access-date=1 November 2017}}{{Cite web|url=http://www.asale.org/la-asociacion/bienvenida/bienvenida-del-presidente|title=Bienvenida del presidente|last=Villanueva|first=Darío|date=30 November 2015|website=Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española|archive-url=https://archive.today/20171102053739/http://www.asale.org/la-asociacion/bienvenida/bienvenida-del-presidente|archive-date=2 November 2017|url-status=dead|access-date=2 November 2017}}{{Cite web|url=http://www.asale.org/la-asociacion/bienvenida/saludo-del-secretario-general|title=Saludo del secretario general|last=Pérez|first=Francisco|date=28 January 2016|website=Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española|archive-url=https://archive.today/20171102054318/http://www.asale.org/la-asociacion/bienvenida/saludo-del-secretario-general|archive-date=2 November 2017|url-status=dead|access-date=2 November 2017}} During the Third Congress of Academies, held in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1960, an agreement was reached whereby the governments of countries with a member in the association would be obliged to provide financial support to their respective academies and the greater association.{{Cite web|url=http://www.asale.org/sites/default/files/Convenio_Bogota.pdf|title=Convenio multilateral Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española|date=1960|website=Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170613235711/http://www.asale.org/sites/default/files/Convenio_Bogota.pdf|archive-date=13 June 2017|access-date=2 November 2017}}
