Blea Water is a tarn or corrie lake which occupies a glacially excavated hollow immediately to the east of High Street in the Lake District, England. At just over {{convert| 200|ft}} deep, it is the deepest tarn in the Lake District.
It is drained by the Mardale Beck, which runs north-east into Haweswater.
Protected Area
Blea Water was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest SSSI in 1985 because the nutrient-poor lake supports plants including water-starwort (Callitriche hamulata), shoreweed (Littorella uniflora) and algae including stonewort (Nitella flexilis).{{Cite web |title=SSSI detail |url=https://designatedsites.naturalengland.org.uk/SiteDetail.aspx?SiteCode=S1001346&SiteName=Blea%20Water&countyCode=&responsiblePerson=&SeaArea=&IFCAArea= |access-date=2024-10-11 |website=designatedsites.naturalengland.org.uk}}
Part of the land area that is designated as Blea Water SSSI is owned by United Utilities.{{Cite web |date=2020-10-06 |title=Mapping the habitats of England’s ten largest institutional landowners |url=https://whoownsengland.org/2020/10/06/mapping-the-habitats-of-englands-ten-largest-institutional-landowners/ |access-date=2024-10-11 |website=Who owns England? |language=en}}
