It is almost merged to Taşucu a town to the west. The distance to Silifke is {{convert|6|km}} and to Mersin is {{convert|91|km}}. The name of the village is composed of two words. Bolacalı refers to a cross bred goat (Boer goat and a local breed from Van) [http://www.sabah.com.tr/Ekonomi/2012/05/25/turkiyenin-yeni-keci-irki-bolacali Sabah Newspaper article {{in lang|tr}}] and koyuncu means sheepman. But the village economy depends mostly on fruit and vegetable farming.
