Boogie is a compilation album of both previously released and unreleased tracks by American band the Jackson 5. It was released by the Motown label on January 16, 1979, after the release of the Jacksons studio album Destiny (1978) a month earlier. Boogie is considered the rarest of all Jackson 5/Jacksons releases, as not many albums were pressed and fewer were sold at the time.

Background and composition

Boogie was available for a limited time from Hip-O Select, to complement Motown's 2001 "2 Albums on 1 CD" re-issue set of the Jackson 5's albums, on which some of these songs were issued as bonus tracks. Although only 5,000 copies were pressed, the album contains the previously unreleased full 15+ minute take of the song "Hum Along and Dance".{{cite web|url=http://www.hip-oselect.com/scr.public.product.asp?product_id=09770ffb-abbf-96c7-6d79-d89eb8f082f7&cat_id=9BE6C651-2C04-4F9B-A867-99626310086F |title=Jackson 5 - Joyful Jukebox Music / Boogie |website=HipOSelect.com |accessdate=25 August 2019 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120306012617/http://www.hip-oselect.com/scr.public.product.asp?product_id=09770ffb-abbf-96c7-6d79-d89eb8f082f7&cat_id=9BE6C651-2C04-4F9B-A867-99626310086F |archivedate=6 March 2012 }} It was available for purchase on iTunes in 2014, but was since removed.[https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/joyful-jukebox-music-boogie/id30947801 Joyful Jukebox Music / Boogie - iTunes] {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140924140124/http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/joyful-jukebox-music-boogie/id30947801 |date=September 24, 2014 }} The album was eventually reissued by Music on CD in 2022.{{Citation |title=The Jackson 5 - Boogie |date=2022-01-28 |url=https://www.discogs.com/release/21940066-The-Jackson-5-Boogie |access-date=2024-12-29 |language=en}}{{cite web | url=https://musiconcd.eu/product/jackson-5-boogie/ | title=Jackson 5 Boogie }}

Alternate, shorter versions of "Love's Gone Bad" and "I Was Made to Love Her" were later featured on Michael Jackson's 1986 compilation album, Looking Back to Yesterday.
