Production

Most of the songs on Bye Bye 17 were written in 2011 after Har Mar Superstar moved from Los Angeles to New York City.{{cite web|url=http://www.startribune.com/har-mar-superstar-comes-home-a-soul-man/224450841/|title=Har Mar Superstar comes home a soul man|work=Star Tribune|first=Chris|last=Riemenschneider|date=September 19, 2013|accessdate=February 25, 2017}} It is the first Har Mar Superstar album that he wrote primarily on guitar. He said, "I wanted the album to sound really live, old, and futuristic."
