Initially known as the I.B.T.O. 625-line system this was the first 625-line system, developed by Mark Krivosheev in 1948,{{cite web |url=https://eng.rscc.ru/press/mi-krivosheev-participation-development-mass-tv-br/ |title="M.I. Krivosheev: Participation in the development of mass TV broadcasting" - an exhibition at Ostankino TV Center}}{{cite web |url=https://www.itu.int/en/Pages/Krivocheev.aspx |title=Mark Iosifovich Krivosheev (1922-2018)}} and later associated with the SECAM and PAL color systems. Used on VHF only in most countries, it usually combined with System K on UHF. In China, it is used for both VHF and UHF.{{cite book |title=中华人民共和国国家标准 PAL-D制电视广播技术规范 GB 3174-1995 |date=20 December 1995 |publisher=中国标准出版社 |url=https://openstd.samr.gov.cn/bzgk/gb/newGbInfo?hcno=FD7A8A2096DE24D6957F59E391CA7006 |language=zh-cn}}{{cite book |title=中华人民共和国国家标准 有线电视频率配置 GB/T 17786-1999 |date=12 July 1999 |publisher=中国标准出版社 |pages=3–5 |url=https://openstd.samr.gov.cn/bzgk/gb/newGbInfo?hcno=473A2304A56DDC38C669D78F34C12F43 |language=zh-cn}}
