The CONCACAF Giants Cup was an international football club competition held in 2001 to replace the CONCACAF Cup Winners Cup. The tournament was organized by CONCACAF for the 12 teams with the highest attendance in their respective national leagues. The winners and runners-up would qualify for the new CONCACAF Clubs Cup, which would serve as a qualification tournament for the FIFA Club World Championship.{{cite news |last=Goff |first=Steven |author-link=Steven Goff |date=February 17, 2001 |title=United's Ammann To Return Monday |page=D3 |url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/2001/02/17/uniteds-ammann-to-return-monday/4c5567dc-dca7-4e75-abef-35e9293179e1/ |work=The Washington Post |accessdate=November 18, 2024}}{{cite news |date=February 17, 2001 |title=Two M.L.S.
