Caroline Chevalier

Caroline Chevalier (née Wilkie; 23 March 1836 – 26 December 1917) was a British writer and one of the first women to write about travelling in New Zealand.{{DNZB|Day|Melvin N. |1c16|Chevalier, Caroline and Chevalier, Nicholas|30 September 2017}} On her death, a collection of her deceased husband's works was given to the New Zealand government.[https://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/object/37863 Museum of New Zealand]

Chevalier was born in London,1871 England Census the daughter of Frederick and Sarah Wilkie.England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 She was married to Nicholas Chevalier, and the Scottish artist David Wilkie was one of her relatives.
