Reception
In his review for Pitchfork, Marc Weidenbaum stated, "It’s difficult to listen to the layered vocals on Cellophane Memories and not think of the roles that mirrors and fractured identities play in Lynch films. The layering is so persistent that it’s unclear if that consistency signals conceptual coherence or extended sameness".{{Cite web |last=Weidenbaum |first=Marc |title=Chrystabell / David Lynch: Cellophane Memories |url=https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/chrystabell-david-lynch-cellophane-memories/ |access-date=2025-02-17 |website=Pitchfork |language=en-US}}
Writing for Paste Peyton Toubs was very mixed about the result of the collaboration and described the album as a "painfully abstract offering"{{Cite web |title=David Lynch & Chrystabell: 'Cellophane Memories' Album Review |url=https://www.pastemagazine.com/music/david-lynch/cellophane-memories-is-a-painfully-abstract-offering-from-chrystabell-and-david-lynch |access-date=2025-02-17 |website=Paste Magazine |language=en-US}} while Helen Brown, of The Independent, in a more positive review, called it "an enigma wrapped in a synth".{{Cite web|url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/david-lynch-chrystabell-cellophane-memories-b2589587.html|title=David Lynch and Chrystabell review, Cellophane Memories: An enigma wrapped in a synth by the visionary director | The Independent}}
A 4 stars out of 5 in Le Soir wrote, "Between fairy tales, mountain peaks, swimming pools, twilight highways and dark rooms, the two artists weave a supernatural universe between romance and solitude."{{Cite web |date=2024-07-23 |title=Chrystabell & David Lynch, « Cellophane Memories » |url=https://www.lesoir.be/611508/article/2024-07-23/chrystabell-david-lynch-cellophane-memories |access-date=2025-02-17 |website=Le Soir |language=fr}}
