Keshet 12 ({{langx|he|ערוץ 12}}) is an Israeli free-to-air television channel owned by Keshet Media Group. It launched on 1 November 2017 as one of two replacements for the outgoing Channel 2.

History

Israel's Channel 2 was operated by the Second Authority for Television and Radio, but was programmed by two rotating companies, Keshet Media Group and Reshet. As part of a larger series of reforms to Israel's broadcast system to increase diversity and competition, Channel 2 was shut down, and both concessionaires were granted their own, standalone channels; Keshet 12 officially launched on 1 November 2017, alongside Reshet 13. Programs were divided among the two channels.{{Cite news|url=https://variety.com/2017/tv/news/keshet-reshet-operating-own-channels-israel-tv-1202604318/|title=Keshet, Reshet Begin Operating Own Channels in Israeli TV Shakeup|last=Kamin|first=Debra|date=2017-11-01|work=Variety|access-date=2017-11-08|language=en-US}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.globes.co.il/en/article-israels-channel-2-set-for-historic-split-tue-midnight-1001209848|title=Israel's Channel 2 set for historic split Tue midnight|website=Globes|language=en|access-date=2017-11-08}} The Israel Television News Company continued to provide news programmes for both channels, with the main primetime bulletin simulcast by both channels, until 16 January 2019 when HaHadashot 12 was established after the merger of Reshet 13 and Channel 10.{{Cite news|url=https://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Channels-10-and-13-to-merge-Wednesday-577318|title=CHANNELS 10 AND 13 TO MERGE WEDNESDAY|work=The Jerusalem Post|access-date=2019-09-18}}

Following this transition, Keshet 12 became Israel’s most-watched commercial television channel, consistently leading in viewership ratings. The channel is known for producing and distributing high-quality drama series, reality shows, and entertainment programs, many of which have gained international recognition. Shows such as Hatufim (which inspired Homeland), When Heroes Fly, and False Flag have been adapted or distributed worldwide. Keshet 12 also maintains a strong digital presence, with its streaming platform Mako offering on-demand content and live broadcasts.
