Content
"Cheeseburger in Paradise" is about a man who tries to amend his carnivorous habits by eating healthy foods such as sunflower seeds. The song was inspired by a boating incident in which Buffett was forced to eat only canned food and peanut butter. He eventually made it to Roadtown on the island of Tortola, and celebrated with a cheeseburger.{{cite news |title=Jimmy Buffett's Support Helps St. Barts Move Forward |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/07/travel/jimmy-buffett-st-barts-sailing.html |access-date=July 15, 2022 |work=The New York Times |date=April 7, 2018}}

In 2002, Buffett's company Margaritaville Holdings LLC licensed the name of the song to OSI Restaurant Partners as the name of the Buffett-themed Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant chain. In 2006, the restaurant had 38 locations in 17 states in the United States and one in Sydney, Australia. By 2018 only a single restaurant in Secaucus, New Jersey remained of the chain.{{cite news |last1=King |first1=Rebecca |title=Cheeseburger in Paradise, a once-thriving chain, down to one location in New Jersey |url=https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/destinations/2018/12/28/secaucus-cheeseburger-paradise-last-once-thriving-chain/2424782002/ |access-date=January 23, 2019 |work=USA Today |date=December 28, 2018}} The last location closed in September 2020.{{cite news |url=https://www.nj.com/business/2020/09/cheeseburger-in-paradise-permanently-closes-its-last-standing-restaurant.html |title=Cheeseburger in Paradise permanently closes its last-standing restaurant |website=NJ.com |date=September 29, 2020 |first=Nicolette |last=Accardi}}{{cite news |url=https://www.nrn.com/casual-dining/last-cheeseburger-paradise-unit-closes-permanently-secaucus-nj |title=Last Cheeseburger in Paradise unit closes permanently in Secaucus, N.J.: Parent Luby's Inc., which also owns Fuddruckers, is in the process of liquidating assets |magazine=Nation's Restaurant News |date=September 30, 2020 |first=Ron |last=Ruggless |url-access=subscription}}

Misheard lyrics
According to the lyrics found on the vinyl sleeve, Buffett sings "cheeseburger 'is' Paradise" twice throughout the song. It is unclear whether he is actually saying "in" or "is", but "cheeseburger "is" Paradise" can clearly be heard during live performances.[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq69l32DCKs Jimmy Buffett – Cheeseburger In Paradise] YouTube Whether this is a fact for the studio version has not been confirmed.
Also, another lyrical confusion is in the second chorus, during the line "medium rare with 'Muenster'd' be nice"; the line is commonly mistaken as saying mustard instead of Muenster.{{cite web |url=http://www.margaritaville.com/jimmybuffett_discography.html?dd_id=33&ds_id=225# |title=Jimmy's Discography |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130404103239/http://www.margaritaville.com/jimmybuffett_discography.html?dd_id=33 |archive-date=April 4, 2013 |website=Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville}}
