Organizational history
Asset International was acquired in January 2009, by venture capital firm, Austin Ventures which sold to Genstar Capital in July 2014.{{Cite news|url=https://www.gencap.com/genstar-capital-to-acquire-asset-international-inc/|title=Genstar Capital to Acquire Asset International, Inc. - Genstar Capital|date=2014-06-20|work=Genstar Capital|access-date=2018-04-06|language=en-US}} Following the first acquisition, the firm was relocated from Connecticut to Manhattan. Offices are located in New York City, Hong Kong, Melbourne, London, and Stamford, Connecticut. The magazine changed its name to aiCIO from ai5000 in late 2010, to describe its audience by function (chief investment officers), as opposed to size (the 5,000 largest funds in the world, with the cutoff being around $1 billion), and again to CIO in 2014. The magazine is the sister publication of Global Custodian, PLANSPONSOR, planadvisor, and aiTrade.{{cite web|author=Steve Smith |url=http://www.minonline.com/news/ai5000-Aims-for-the-Super-Money_11521.html |title=ai5000 Aims for the Super Money |publisher=MinOnline |date= |accessdate=2011-06-08}}{{cite web|url=http://www.etftrends.com/2010/09/ever-expanding-etf-universe/ |title=The Ever-Expanding ETF Universe |publisher=ETF Trends |date= 8 September 2010|accessdate=2011-06-07}}{{cite web|url=http://www.etftrends.com/2011/02/frontier-market-etfs-this-their-year/ |title=Frontier Market ETFs: Is This Their Year? |publisher=ETF Trends |date= 17 February 2011|accessdate=2011-06-07}} Leanna Orr took over for Paula Vasan as Managing Editor in March of 2013.{{citation needed|date=October 2015}} Elizabeth Pfeuti serves as CIO's European Editor.{{citation needed|date=October 2015}}
