History
Conistone with Kilnsey was formerly a township in the parish of Burnsall,{{cite web|url=https://visionofbritain.org.uk/place/12194|title=History of Conistone, in Craven and West Riding|publisher=A Vision of Britain through Time|accessdate=8 December 2020}} in 1866 Conistone with Kilnsey became a civil parish in its own right.{{cite web|url=https://visionofbritain.org.uk/unit/10414817|title=Relationships and changes Conistone With Kilnsey Ch/CP through time|publisher=A Vision of Britain through Time|accessdate=8 December 2021}} Until 1974 it was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the district of Craven, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.
