Copae

Copae or Kopai ({{langx|grc|Κῶπαι}}), or Copia or Copiae, was an ancient Greek city (polis) in Boeotia, on the northern shore of Lake Copais, which derived its name from this town.{{Cite Pausanias|9|24|1}}-2. Copae was part of Thersander's kingdom and is mentioned by Homer in the Catalogue of Ships in the Iliad.{{Cite Iliad|2.502}} It was a member of the Boeotian League.{{Cite Thucydides|4.93}}{{Cite Strabo|ix. pp. 406, 410}} It was still in existence in the time of Pausanias, who mentions here the temples of Demeter, Dionysus and Sarapis.{{Cite Pliny|4.7.12}}
