Remains have been found in the Bloyd Formation (Carboniferous Period) of Arkansas and the Cleveland Shale (Devonian Period) of Ohio in the United States and in South America.Acanthodian fish remains from the Upper Silurian or Lower Devonian of the Amazon Basin, Brazil.
