History
In 1965 the district planned to give teachers higher salaries, but the budget auditor of New Mexico schools, Harry Wugalter, chose not to approve the budget. As a result, the district had the possibility of reducing teacher pay.{{cite news|last=Scott|first=Wayne S.|title=Wugalter Refuses to Sign Budget for Cuba Schools; Questions Salary Boosts|newspaper=Albuquerque Journal|place=Albuquerque, New Mexico|date=1965-04-24|page=A-2}} - [https://www.newspapers.com/clip/109095731/ Clipping] at Newspapers.com.
