The Democratic Regions Party ({{langx|tr|Demokratik Bölgeler Partisi}}, DBP, {{langx|ku|Partiya Herêman a Demokratîk}}, PHD) is a Kurdish political party in the Republic of Turkey. The pro-minority rights Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) acts as the fraternal party to DBP.
Development
After the 2014 municipal elections, Peoples' Democratic Party and the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) were re-organised in a joint structure. On 28 April 2014, the entire parliamentary caucus of BDP joined HDP, whereas BDP was assigned exclusively to representatives on the local administration level.{{cite web|url=http://www.sabah.com.tr/Gundem/2014/04/28/bdp-milletvekilleri-hdpye-katildi|title=BDP milletvekilleri HDP'ye katıldı|date=28 April 2014|publisher=Al-Monitor|access-date=24 February 2014}}[http://odatv.com/n.php?n=bdp-artik-mecliste-yok-2804141200 BDP artık Meclis'te yok] The BDP has been said to be more hardline, arguably with closer PKK links, than its parent HDP.{{cite web|url=https://www.crisisgroup.org/europe-central-asia/western-europemediterranean/turkey/243-managing-turkeys-pkk-conflict-case-nusaybin|title=Managing Turkey's PKK Conflict: The Case of Nusaybin|date=2 May 2017|publisher=International Crisis Group|access-date=7 May 2017}}
At the 3rd Congress of BDP on 11 July 2014, the name of the party was changed to the Democratic Regions Party and a new structure restricting the activities on the local/regional government level was adopted.{{cite web|url=http://www.evrensel.net/haber/88097/bdpnin-adi-demokratik-bolgeler-partisi-oldu|title=BDP'nin adı Demokratik Bölgeler Partisi oldu|date=11 July 2014|publisher=Evrensel|access-date=24 February 2015}}
On 30 November 2019, Saliha Aydeniz became the Co-Chair of the party.{{Cite web|date=2019-12-20|title=HDP's sister party DBP becomes 10th party in Turkish parliament|url=https://www.duvarenglish.com/politics/2019/12/20/hdps-sister-party-dbp-becomes-10th-party-represented-in-turkish-parliament|url-status=live|access-date=2021-06-15|website=www.duvarenglish.com|language=en|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191223151656/https://www.duvarenglish.com/politics/2019/12/20/hdps-sister-party-dbp-becomes-10th-party-represented-in-turkish-parliament/ |archive-date=2019-12-23 }}
On November 12, 2023, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır were elected as the new co-Chairpersons of the Democratic Regions Party.{{cite news |access-date=13 November 2023 |archive-date=13 November 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20231113084921/https://www.evrensel.net/haber/503334/dbpnin-yeni-es-genel-baskanlari-cigdem-kilicgun-ucar-ve-keskin-bayindir-oldu |title=DBP'nin yeni Eş Genel Başkanları Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar ve Keskin Bayındır oldu |url=https://www.evrensel.net/haber/503334/dbpnin-yeni-es-genel-baskanlari-cigdem-kilicgun-ucar-ve-keskin-bayindir-oldu |url-status=live}}
