Musical style

The Rolling Stone magazine mentions Destroy Lonely's unique way of shifting cadence and the usage of humorous lyrics in his music. He cites as influences Crystal Castles, Deftones, and The Cure, and rap predecessors such as Lil Wayne, Drake, Future, Young Thug, and Playboi Carti. His music has been described by Brandon Callender of The Fader in the following manner: "Destroy Lonely has an eclectic ear for beats that skews toward twinkly, atmospheric beats that function like canvases, his voice vivid splashes of paint."{{cite web |date=April 12, 2022 |title=The Rap Report: Rob49 and Real Boston Richey throw down, Destroy Lonely's stylish return, and more |url=https://www.thefader.com/2022/08/17/the-rap-report-rob49-and-real-boston-richey-throw-down-destroy-lonelys-stylish-return-and-more |website=The Fader}} Much of Lonely's production makes use of ambient synthesizers, programmed guitar riffs and samples from orchestras as well as from video game OST's such as Genshin Impact.{{cite web |last=Lafontant |first=Olivier |date=July 7, 2022 |title=Eight Acts You Shouldn't Sleep On Ahead of Rolling Loud 2022 |url=https://www.miaminewtimes.com/music/eight-underrated-acts-at-rolling-loud-2022-14787399 |access-date=October 5, 2022 |website=Miami New Times}}

Destroy Lonely's main lyrical subject matter is usually braggadocio, but his lyrics can also concern relationships, love, guns or committing financial crime, especially in his earlier material.
