The Dogri script is a writing system originally used for writing the Dogri language in Jammu and Kashmir in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent.{{cite web|last=Pandey|first=Anshuman|date=2015-11-04|title=L2/15-234R: Proposal to encode the Dogra script|url=https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2015/15234r-dogra.pdf}}
History
The revival of the Dogra Akkhar script was supported by the order of Maharaja Ranbir Singh of Jammu and Kashmir.{{Cite book |last=Gupta |first=Veena |title=Dogri Vyakaran |publisher=J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages |year=2020 |edition=5th |location=Bari Brahmana, Jammu |language=Dogri}} It is a modified version of the old Dogra Akkhar script, which in turn was a Jammu variant of the Takri script.File:Dogra.png
Efforts of revival
Signboards in New Dogra Akkhar were erected at Jammu Tawi railway station.{{Cite web |last=SNS |date=2018-05-04 |title=Dogri script finds place on signposts at Jammu railway station |url=https://www.thestatesman.com/cities/dogri-script-finds-place-on-signposts-at-jammu-railway-station-1502631179.html |access-date=2022-10-20 |website=The Statesman |language=en-US}} However, the script is functionally extinct, with Devanagari being used to write Dogri now. Most speakers of Dogra are unable to read and write the language in its original script.
