Shetty was born on 16 June 1955 in Asodu, Kundapur, India. He completed his postgraduate training at Guy's Hospital, King's College London, and St. Thomas’s School of Medicine, London. He holds fellowships including FRCS and FACS.

He resides in Kent, UK, with his wife and daughter.

Shetty has held academic and clinical positions:

Shetty has collaborated with research teams in South Korea, Japan, and India to advance regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy.
