Career

= Early Career =

Jeff Chan first gained attention for his viral short film Find Makarov, a fan-made project based on the popular video game franchise Call of Duty. The film's realistic style and compelling narrative led many viewers to believe it was an official trailer for a new installment in the series.{{Cite web |title=GO Signs Director Jeff Chan {{!}} LBBOnline |url=https://lbbonline.com/news/go-signs-director-jeff-chan |access-date=2025-03-14 |website=lbbonline.com |language=en}}

Initially, Activision, the publisher of the Call of Duty games, threatened legal action against Chan due to concerns over copyright infringement and potential confusion among fans. Recognizing Chan's talent and the potential for collaboration, the company decided to hire him to create an official short film for the then-upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III entitled Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish.{{Cite web |last=Jr |first=Mike Fleming |date=2013-12-13 |title=Lionsgate Lights Firefighter Project With Jeff Chan To Helm, Sascha Penn To Write |url=https://deadline.com/2013/12/lionsgate-lights-firefighter-project-with-jeff-chan-to-helm-sascha-penn-to-write-651436/ |access-date=2025-03-14 |website=Deadline |language=en-US}}
