History
=Beginnings=
In 2008, joint venture Guangqi Honda between the Chinese car company GAC Group and the Japanese Honda decided to create a new brand, Everus, with the Chinese. The study announcement of the branch's first vehicle was the Li Nian Concept prototype in the form of a small roadster{{cite web |access-date=2024-03-09 |language=en |title=Shanghai 2009: Guangzhou Honda Linian roadster concept is messing with our S2000-loving heads |url=https://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/21/shanghai-2009-guangzhou-honda-linian-roadster-concept-is-messin/?guccounter=1}} presented in 2008 at the Guangzhou Auto Show,{{cite web |access-date=2020-07-01 |language=en |title=GAC Honda to Launch First "Everus" Car at Guangzhou Auto Show |url=http://chinaautoweb.com/2010/08/gac-honda-to-launch-first-everus-car-at-guangzhou-auto-show/}} and two years later a second concept car was presented in the form of a 4-door sedan.{{cite web |access-date=2020-07-01 |language=en |title=Everus in chronological order |url=https://en.wheelsage.org/everus/cars}}
Three years after its creation, in April 2011, Everus presented the first production car in the form of the subcompact sedan S1. It was not a new design, but a derivative of the already offered Honda City model, which was distinguished from it by cosmetic visual modifications.{{cite web |access-date=2020-07-01 |language=en |title=GAC-Honda Releases the Everus S1, a Rebadged City Subcompact |url=http://chinaautoweb.com/2011/04/gac-honda-releases-the-everus-s1-a-rebadged-city-subcompact/}} Two years after its launch, the company attempted to differentiate the S1 from the original design by introducing an extensive modernization. The model was sold until 2016,{{cite web |access-date=2024-03-09 |language=en |title=Everus (Linian) S1 China Sales Data & Charts |url=https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/everus-s1-sales-figures/}} after which production of the Everus S1 came to an end with neither a successor nor plans to launch new products. The branch remained in this condition for another 2 years.
=Reactivation and liquidation=
The announcement of Everus' return to the market, this time under a completely new brand electric cars, was the Everus EV Concept study presented in April 2018 at the Beijing Auto Show.{{cite web |access-date=2020-07-01 |language=en |title=Honda reveals Everus EV concept |url=https://www.caradvice.com.au/642910/honda-everus-ev-concept/}} In November of the same year, a serial adaptation of this study was presented, as it was a slightly visually modified variation on the Honda Vezel already offered in China.{{cite web |access-date=2020-07-01 |language=en |title=Honda Debuts New Everus VE-1 All-Electric SUV, But Only For China |url=https://www.carscoops.com/2018/11/hondas-electric-everus-ve-1-launches-china/}}
Everus VE-1 sealed the subsidiary's return to the Chinese market in December 2018, a month after its debut.{{cite web |access-date=2024-03-09 |language=en |title=Everus VE-1 sales in China |url=https://www.chinamobil.ru/eng/gac/everus/ve-1/?view=sales}} As in the case of the previously offered S1 sedan, the VE-1 remained the only model in the Everus range and no decision was made to expand it in the next two years. In September 2020, the car underwent a minor modernization, during which it was decided to completely withdraw the Everus brand and include the VE-1 model directly in the GAC Honda portfolio.{{cite web |access-date=2024-03-09 |language=zh |title=日常代步,广汽本田理念VE-1续航够用吗? |url=https://auto.sina.cn/mp/zz/2021-04-15/detail-ikmyaawa9809169.d.html}} In 2021 Everus added the EA6 to its lineup. This is a rebadged GAC Aion S, which makes it exactly the same as the Lingzhi-Toyota iA5 except for its badges.{{Cite web |last=Breevoort |first=Leo |date=2021-12-26 |title=The Big Read Christmas Special: Fake brands |url=https://carnewschina.com/2021/12/26/the-big-read-christmas-special-fake-brands/#everus |access-date=2024-10-06 |website=CarNewsChina.com |language=en-US}}
