History
Gregg Hoffman joined the company in 2003 as Head of Production.{{cite web |url=http://www.lionsgatepublicity.com/epk/saw2/docs/pro_notes.doc |title=Saw II Production Notes |publisher=Lionsgate |format=1.40MB .DOC file |accessdate=August 22, 2011 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110929214115/http://www.lionsgatepublicity.com/epk/saw2/docs/pro_notes.doc |archivedate=September 29, 2011 |url-status=dead }} The box office success of the horror film Saw led to a distribution deal with Lionsgate and the formation of Twisted Pictures. Hoffman unexpectedly died on December 4, 2005.{{cite web|url=https://www.theguardian.com/news/2005/dec/15/guardianobituaries.film |title=Obituary: Gregg Hoffman |last=Newman |first=Kim |work=The Guardian |date=December 15, 2005 |accessdate=August 25, 2011 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20111110131430/http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/2005/dec/15/guardianobituaries.film |archivedate=November 10, 2011 |url-status=live }}
In August 2005, the lead actor in Saw, Cary Elwes, filed a lawsuit against Evolution Entertainment, who were his managers at the time, stating he was promised a minimum of one percent of the producers' net profits of the film and did not receive the full amount.{{cite news|title=Not everyone happy with their cut from Saw |url=http://www.theage.com.au/news/film/not-everyone-happy-with-their-cut-from-saw/2005/08/20/1124435169494.html |last=Mitchell |first=Peter |agency=AAP |work=The Age |date=20 August 2005 |accessdate=26 September 2011 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20121107064640/http://www.theage.com.au/news/film/not-everyone-happy-with-their-cut-from-saw/2005/08/20/1124435169494.html |archivedate=7 November 2012 |url-status=live }} The case eventually was settled out of court and in 2010, Elwes reprised his role in Saw 3D.
In June 2011, after twelve years, Koules departed from the company; Burg purchased his 50% of the company. Burg chose CAA agent-turned-producer Michael Menchel as the new president.
The company's clients include Charlie Sheen and at one time Shawnee Smith and Danny Glover.{{cite web|url=https://deadline.com/2011/06/evolutions-mark-burg-cashes-out-oren-koules-names-mike-menchel-president-142690/|title=Evolution's Mark Burg Cashes Out Oren Koules, Names Mike Menchel President|last=Fleming|first=Mike|website=Deadline Hollywood|publisher=Mail.com Media|date=June 23, 2011|access-date=September 21, 2011}}{{cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=7GA7hZsjDkkC&q=Shawnee+Smith+Evolution+Entertainment&pg=PA643|title=The Celebrity Black Book 2006: Over 55,000 Accurate Celebrity Addresses|last=McAuley|first=Jordan|page=643|publisher=Mega Niche Media|isbn=0-9707095-7-9|date=December 1, 2005}}{{cite web|url=https://www.dreadcentral.com/interviews/glover-danny-smith-shawnee-saw |title=Glover, Danny & Smith, Shawnee (Saw) |last=Condit |first=Jon |work=DreadCentral |publisher=CraveOnline |date=December 2, 2004 |accessdate=August 19, 2011 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20121021152701/http://www.dreadcentral.com/interviews/glover-danny-smith-shawnee-saw |archivedate=October 21, 2012 |url-status=live }}
