Controversy
Different media have criticized the Extremaduran version of Wikipedia. It is questioned that the Extremaduran is not really a separate language, but instead a dialect of Asturian and Castilian, and that it does not have defined spelling rules,{{Cite web| url=http://www.elperiodicoextremadura.com/noticias/noticia.asp?pkid=367349&page=9| title=Los 200.000 hablantes del extremeño| work=El Periódico de Extremadura| language=es| access-date=3 February 2011| date=12 April 2008|archive-date=9 December 2017|url-status=live|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20171209113825/http://www.elperiodicoextremadura.com/noticias/extremadura/200-000-hablantes-extremeno_367349.html}} although the OSCEC (Monitoring and Coordination Body of Extremaduran and its Culture) has worked on the standardization of Extremaduran through dictionaries and normative grammar materials.{{Cite web |last=Oscec |date=2023-12-15 |title=La estandarización de la lengua extremeña |url=https://www.grada.es/la-estandarizacion-de-la-lengua-extremena/blogueros/oscec/ |access-date=2024-09-17 |website=Revista Grada |language=es}} The fact that the page only has three main contributors, the same who initiated the project, has also been the subject of controversy.{{Cite web| url=http://www.hoy.es/20080413/sociedad/verdadera-historia-guiquipeya-20080413.html| title=La verdadera historia de la Güiquipeya| author=Aracely R.
