First chief master sergeant

It is expected that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will sign it very soon, enabling the rank to be created.[http://philstar.com/philstar/NEWS200611080416.htm "GMA ready to sign amended VAT law"]{{Dead link|date=December 2019 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }}, November 8, 2006

Rank's Aim

  • According to Bill Number 1286, the creation of the first chief master sergeant aims to professionalize the Armed Forces of the Philippines, especially in allowing its soldiers to choose a better career while serving in the army. The ranks are to be considered as non-commissioned officer ranks.[http://www.senate.gov.ph/bills/sbn-1286.pdf "Section 2 of Bill 1286"], November 8, 2006
